Hisarönü
The breezy dry air and clear water of Hisarönü, which is located 3.5 km northwest of Orhaniye, is claimed to be good particularly for the health of patients with asthma and heart failure.
You can enjoy the wonderful sea and sun at the seaside beach clubs.
You can also take boat tours at Hisarönü. The boats take stops at İnbükü (Emel Sayın) Cove, Tavşan (Rabbit) Island and Bencik Cove.
The weather is breezy all summer, providing ideal conditions for windsurfing. There is half-day or full-day water sports training available at all levels with appropriate material at the facilities of the French UCPA: National Association of Outdoor Sports Centres.
Hisarönü is one of the 3 major horse safari and horse riding points of Marmaris and surroundings. You may take horse riding training at the horse farm in the village and participate in horse safari tours in the coast or forest. Hippotherapy (treatment including activities with horses) courses are also available for people with physical or mental challenges at the horse farm. There are horse farms in Çetibeli and Köyceğiz too.
We recommend the charming Hisarönü Köftecisi, which is hidden under ivies, for eating delicious köfte (Turkish meatballs). For the lovers of pide (Turkish pita), we suggest taking a break at Mavi Pide that is famous for its various kinds of pide including ones with honey, bananas, apples, tahini (sesame) and grilled aubergines in addition to well-known typical ones.
You may taste Thai cuisine at Club Mistral Restaurant in Martı Marina – Hisarönü facilities that are situated in Keçibükü in Hisarönü Bay for providing accommodation and maintenance services for boats during both summer and winter. The mosaics in the garden of the historic Monastery ruins right next to the restaurant in Martı Marina with a Blue Flag certified sea are also worth seeing.
Hisarönü region, which was called Kastabos in ancient times is within the borders of the ancient city of Bybassios. You may take pleasant walks to discover this ancient town. There are also the ruins of the Kastabos temple town on Pazarlık plains at Mountain Eren. These ruins belong to the Temple of Hemithea.
